Kind of planned meandering different jobs&geographies, switching perspectives business&society as #digitalprofessional since preInternet era —nothing beats ethics

I wrote some weekend words on why you should think twice before allowing AI access to your email, calendar, or any other personal data. This may seem obvious to some, but perhaps not to others: the privacy and security risks just aren't worth it.

For privacy and security, think twice before granting AI access to your personal data | TechCrunch

AI chatbots, assistants and agents are increasingly asking for gross levels of access to your personal data under the guise of needing your information to make them work.

LLMs are not intelligent but they ARE good for spouting extruded text that mimics the zeitgeist of their training data and if that training data includes the overflowing sewer that is the unfiltered internet you're going to get gaslighting, lies, conspiracy theories, and malice. Guardrails only prevent some of it from spilling over.

Humans base their norms on their peers' opinions, so LLMs potentially normalize all sorts of horrors in discourse—probably including ones we haven't glimpsed yet.

@hosford42 @jaykass @MmmCreamy @paninid @resistofficial.bsky.social ICE has killed people as long as ICE has existed, mainly "unintentionally." That's already massively escalated.

These camps are generally moving rapidly towards the English style concentration camps that were the inspiration for Hitler's camps. This Florida camp is exactly modeled in that style. Nazi death camps could be the next step, but they'll probably start hiding the death toll, if they haven't already done so, before they switch over.

English camps, and American death camps for indigenous people, were already pretty brutal. The slave camps they've already started talking about are similar to one of the most brutal Nazi camps: Monowitz.

This is not an accident.

This is by design.

You think it won’t happen to you.

You think you won’t end up there.

That is not an accident.

That is by design.
