I try to eat more of the veggies from my garden. I found a good way to cook them is to make Asian style stir fry them with tofu, and with either noodles or rice.
The sauce is Asian style as understood by an European. The base is soy sauce (both normal and sweet), oil (sesame), garlic, ginger, and some paste (gochujang or red Thai curry). Sometimes a spoon of potato starch to thicken the sauce. Not sure if it makes a lot of sense, but it does taste delicious 😋
[Small] Is Not Nothing
Your garden is not nothing.
Your repaired jacket is not nothing.
Your conversation with a neighbor about starting a seed library is not nothing.
Small, consistent, local action is what change has always been made of.

My SURP will be an agricultural robot. For now it will have 4 wheels driven by two DC motors, a raspberry pi, and a oak d lite I got with a voucher from a 3d printing contest at printables.
Not sure where I am going with this but the business plan doesn't matter: what matters is that I refresh my robotic skills 🤖
But portfolio sounds too artsy for some fields where businesses are serious and industrious ! But a start-up is much more readily understood, hence the rebranding.
SURP has several advantages:
- Strong answer to the dreaded CV gap question
- Keeps skills sharp
- Allows reorientation
- Prevents feeling useless
- It's fun !
I am unemployed for a couple of weeks now, and because the economy is what it is, It is possible that I might get the "can you explain the gap in your CV" question.
I dread that question.
Therefore, I came up with the Start-Up Role Play (SURP) strategy.
The concept of SURP is simple: work on a fun project and make it look like it is the product of a start-up. This works best with tech, such as apps or software. In my case it is robotics.
Yes, this is reinventing the portfolio.
After a month of procrastination, I finally installed Pop OS (Ubuntu derivative) on my old work laptop that only had windows on it.
I feel... clean.

This ones leans a bit more into theory and politics than I usually do when writing about the industry, but this moment in time warrants it, I think.
