Unix geezer from V6, ArpaNet to Internet when it was a nice place hoping for a friendly spot

Robert Tinney was the cover artist for Byte magazine from 1975-1986, where he cranked out these fantastic paintings that captured the spirit of tech from that time. Here is one of my favorites (from 1981). #RetroComputing #Byte

Remember: Twitter is Elon's company, he has the free speech and free association right to run it pretty much however he wants and to ban people for petty narcissistic reasons.

And we have the right to laugh and point at his ridiculousness and at the free-speech pretenses of his gullible fans.

In recent years, we became too comfortable letting #Twitter define journalism & media. Algorithms often dictated the narratives we collectively paid attention to.

Absurd trends were covered by news outlets & ballooned into major stories while we missed so much real substance. And the quick takes of uninformed politicians & bad actors were forced upon anyone participating in the network.

It was bad for democracy. The #Mastodon model makes me hopeful we can do better. #twittermigration
