I'm puzzled as to why #notifications aren't working on my personal #Mastodon instance. I've setup the VAPID key as instructed but no dice.

I'm not sure where to start looking.

I'm using the Mastodon #PWA version on #Android (i.e. add site to app drawer) which works fine for my mastodon.social account.

Well, I did it.

I'm now the proud owner of a single user #Mastodon instance. It's running as a #Docker container using LinuxServer.io's all-in-one image (https://github.com/linuxserver/docker-mastodon)

For bonus points I'm running it under #Dokku, which has meant some minor alterations to the init scripts, but means I've no need to worry about the Redis/Postges instances as they're all handled by Dokku.

At some point I'll push a repo with these alterations and some instructions.

While everyone's being nostalgic about what Twitter means to them, I may as well add my two cents.

I didn't give birth to Twitter – that was Jack and Florian. But I was its midwife and adoptive mother; for two months in early 2007, I was the code's sole guardian and caretaker.

I was also the first person to hate Twitter; back when it was SMS-only, I did the math and realized that my immigrant prepaid phone plan would charge me $2000/year to send and receive even a 2006-era number of tweets. 🧵

Just got tone-policed and told I should go back to Twitter by someone who joined Mastodon… *checks notes*… three days ago.
