Ok, now I’m here and I’ve decided I’ll cut this as a key block and then use one or two color blocks to handle shading. I really want to carve the lines haha
Ok after cleaning up the hand in preparation for having the other hand hold the phone it became clear what else was itching me about the phone. Its angle and the angle of the gaze are subtly off. The skeleton doesn’t quiiiiiite seem to be looking at it.
In reality of course this would be relatively normal depending on the posture but for a stylized depiction like this I think they should be parallel.

I like this better but it’s still not very clear to me yet how to handle the lighting.
Also, maybe 🤔 the skeleton should be holding the phone with the other hand??
Getting the layout figured out. Still not certain but I might go and make this a key block and then use some transparent medium to layer in the “lighting” effect a bit.
Brainstorming for the next linocut. I was thinking I’d experiment with some high contrast’s “lighting” but maybe just keeping it simple and focused on the lines is a better approach for now. I’m not really sure I’m going to be able to get what I’m after on these small blocks I’m working with right now.
