Additionally it turns out #jeremycorbyn wasn't quite the unmitigated disaster he was made out to be! He was able to mobillise a much larger number of voters to back him and under a proportional system he would have done much better than this result in 2017 and probably match it in 2019.

Not sure what to make of this. Shaky sandcastles indeed. #Starmer has been given a chance but if he doesn't deliver and deliver big there may well be a rude awakening come #GE2029!

First Past the Post (FPTP) is a brutal electoral system. #KeirStarmer won FEWER votes than #JeremyCorbyn did in 2017 AND 2019 and only increased #Labour's vote share by ~1.7% from 2019 (its worst result since 1935) yet has won 210 MORE seats and achieved an astonishing landslide #GE2024.

They've won almost as many seats as #Blair in #GE1997 with less than 34% of the vote! For context #Blair won 35.2% in the 2005 General Election after 8 years in power and post Iraq invasion!
