Switched to Fedora (KDE) on my @tuxedocomputers InfinityBook 14, and it’s way better than the TuxedoOS in a few important regards:

The battery life no longer sucks. I get 3-4 hours instead of 1.5. I’m overall disappointed with the battery life but it is what it is. Just feels like a fresh fedora setup is better optimised for this machine somehow. That, and the OS was pre installed on the wrong ssd (the slow one), and u wonder if that contributed at all.

The audio works. The laptop shipped with non functional audio via its speakers. Headphones worked but the laptop by itself did not. It caused video to play slowly and stutter too, unless headphones were used.

I prefer the polish to Fedora over Tuxedo/Ubuntu OSes.. and now running it on the desktop too I get a lot of similar configs working for free.

If you own one of these machines and opted for preinstalled software, I highly recommend trying another OS.

Finally getting around to connecting the #jetkvm units I ordered ages ago! They’re slick little things and I’m impressed with the lack of fuss.

Got this one connected to my #NAS box below it.. will probably connect the others to a couple of my mini PCs and eventually a Mac Mini M4 for inferencing. Bonus is that these trigger the video out which can be tricky for some boxes if there’s no display connected.

Another old school game for the collection! Super happy I found a decent copy of GTA 1 on eBay.. this seems to be in pretty decent condition and with the maps too.

Killed 2 servers within a month of each other. My new main instance is still going strong with 220TB usable, so these smaller ones aren't really needed anymore.

That, and this particular unit is a 4U 80cm deep monster chassis that is loud and takes up a ton of room in my office. The newer unit is racked so I can get rid of this one finally..

Another “big” box to the collection.. RollerCoaster Tycoon! Loved this game, and still play it and RCT2 to this day. Almost slept on this one but the feelings just the cover brings back are incredible.

The specs are a laugh as well..

Placed an order for a @tuxedocomputers InfinityBook, finally, after a ton of deliberation 😄

Took a moment as I wasn't sure if I was going to grab a Macbook or this, as I'll always eventually need a Mac for a complete workflow. That being said, I prefer Linux for a lot of things and I'll probably not be using it as much as my primary work machine (MBP M3 14") that I use daily.

The InfinityBook looks awesome, has great specs and was an incredibly good price (not least when compared to the Macbook).

Has anyone got one of the gen 9s? Are you running the Tuxedo OS on it or did you throw something else onto it? I'm considering using Fedora.
