{vrtility} is now 4x faster than when I started the project! I still think there is a lot more that can be done to improve performance - in principal most python pixel functions can soon be replaced with #gdal native ones which I hope to get to soon.

The development version of GDAL 3.12 includes a tool for calculating zonal statistics of raster values based on defined zones. Thanks to Dan Baston (who also created the popular `exactextract`)!
