Tinkerer of eco-systems. Google Chrome Security team, ex-USDS. Opinions mine... or graciously donated from people smarter than me.
Ooof. 3 x 10^48 Joules released in a fraction of a second.... That makes everything I did today feel a tad inconsequential. I should up my game.

Come secure Wikipedia with me! We're hiring an engineering manager to oversee security operations, and to lead a group of security and privacy engineers that keep the platform and its users safe.

The role will work closely with me to plan and execute on an ambitious safety and security roadmap for Wikipedia and the rest of Wikimedia's projects.

I've loved working at Wikimedia, and there's never been more energy there for this kind of work. Throw in for it!

they battle crime throughout the night
as splinter taught them how to fight
and from the sewers came a cowabunga

Scientists and engineers ask questions that lead to discoveries we can’t yet imagine, sometimes even trillion-dollar breakthroughs. And yet today, we're systematically undercutting their work.

This is some good visual story telling of research findings on how we all need interactions with strangers. https://pudding.cool/2025/06/hello-stranger/

remember when computers used to scream when we tried to connect them to the internet? like maybe that was a sign

Every underfunded scientific lab and institution may become a future industry we're giving away to competitors.

Each PhD student who leaves for better opportunities abroad takes tomorrow's breakthroughs with them. America built its booming economy by betting on science before we knew where it would lead.

Basic research feels expensive until it creates trillion-dollar industries. #uspol /2

I think this is a bad path to head down. AI companies that make their bots feel more human play into a vulnerability we humans have to treat it as human -- This is daaangerous. Giving it first amendment rights, or protecting it's feelings plays into that. No thank you. https://centerforhumanetechnology.substack.com/p/are-we-having-a-zeitgeist-moment
