@rasterweb Agree. I am definitely in the camp of those believing that having more people on actual e-bikes, including pedaling, using bike paths and lanes is better for everybody. Participation makes all this viable.

I’m glad the Wisconsin Bike Fed is getting in front of the ebike issue.

@tess Same here but not too often. I've attributed it to, with no proof, one of:

visiting EU site pretty regularly
use of many different browsers recently
AI sloppiness
Location off more frequently

but who knows

Incredible list of OSS conspiracy theories.

Except the Rust one. That's just straight up true, tautological even.

@deech entertaining for sure! The amount of effort it would take to prove or disprove these makes them perfect conspiracy theories.

A new 225-meter (740-foot) crater appeared on the Moon while nobody was looking. NASA's lunar orbiter imaged the dramatic aftermath.

Such large impacts are once-in-a-century events. This one happened in the spring of 2024.

5 things white people can do to start making the fediverse less toxic for Black people

https://privacy.thenexus.today/start-making-the-fediverse-less-toxic/

  • Listen more to more Black people – and amplify their voices
  • Think before you post
  • Call in, call out, and/or report anti-Blackness when you see it
  • Support Black people and Black-led instances and projects
  • Approach it intersectionally
  • The article also has links to anti-racism resources and appendices with a list of common mistkes to avoid and blocklist resources for moderators.

Thanks to everybody who gave feedback on earlier drafts!

EDIT, 8/19: I updated #2 (which previously started with "Post Less"), and also made some other changes in the underlying article - including a bit more discussion about how anti-Blackness isn't just a US problem.

Read on for some excerpts (1/N)

Anti-Blackness is a long-term problem in the fediverse. Now's a good time to start changing that.
