OMG @siracusa… I was driving when I heard this, and I yelled ‘YES’ as soon as you started. I knew exactly where you were going. There *is* another person on the planet that uses Photos and feels your pain.
You are even too generous in suggesting it remembers status. I say make Original the default and be done with it.
