Just näin. Somessa voi aina vaikka vain sulkea appin jos ei jaksa. Live tilanteista ei pääse pakoon ihan niin helposti.

Years ago, I came up with #conservationcommitted ⬇️
It's a way to help wildlife photographers highlight their commitments to responsible #wildlifephotography 📸

Teaching responsible #fieldcraft is so important to protect wildlife and habitats from accidental disturbance.

It's gained some traction on Instagram but not much on Twitter.
Would be great to see the hashtag take off on here! Would you use it?

An Incredible Day In Internet History

It started with the Twitter lockout. 10,000 new users per hour. A QUARTER MILLION people migrated to Mastodon in one day. The servers struggled. Remarkably, admins all over the world built up capacity in real time. New users were patient. The system held.

It's running better now. There will be more hard days ahead, but people powered social media has arrived.

Figured I should explain this here in case folk are wondering why my finger is often in my photos - I have scale bars tattooed on my index fingers, the lines and dots are 5mm apart and they’re super useful for quick field photos 😅 Demonstrated here with some gorgeous crinoidal limestone from Fife 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Twitter cannot exist without a team of developers and engineers to keep it running 24/7 and I have a feeling Elon will soon realise this if he hasn't already

If I see how much work (love it though) it brings to only support ~100K people on a platform I don't wanna know the resources Twitter needs..

But the beauty of the #Fediverse is that I'm not doing it alone, not even by a long shot. It's more like every Fedi server admin out there is working for the fedi for free❤️ Haha, even paying for it

Tiedon louhinta ja jalostaminen kiinnostaa. Meillä on tietomassaa eli ns.

Kiitos @sara_peltola

The news from #COP27 seem to indicate two things worth thinking through:
1) is it better to let the COP visibly fail rather than have a watered-down text spun as progress
2) should the issue of a damages fund be tied to increased commitments to emissions reductions, emissions peaking?
The EU seems to be playing both cards, and cynics call it just trying to look good, while optimists would like to think it's putting pressure on the US, China and others (who aren't likely to budge though).

From @[email protected] Head of Comms @[email protected]: "The problems at Twitter seem to be rapidly escalating, so it's time to be direct: please follow us on our other channels, including #Mastodon in case Twitter ceases to be a viable option." #PlanB #StayConnected #TwitterOFF
I am still working my way through #Rewilding Europe’s Wildlife Comeback report (https://rewildingeurope.com/news/european-wildlife-comeback-new-report-shows-wildlife-will-return-if-we-give-it-space-to-recover/), but this map of current #greywolf population changes in Europe is very inspiring. Some of this has happened by accident (land use changes), but dedicated conservation efforts have ensured the populations are viable.
