Wow.

A book is coming out that looks interesting. Guardian did a piece on it and I went searching for the book and it has two different titles between EU/UK/CA and the US.

“Plastic Inc: Big Oil, Big Money and The Plan To Trash Our Future”

“Plastic Inc: The Secret History and Shocking Future of Big Oil’s Biggest Bet”

Guess which one is the US title?

‘They pushed so many lies about recycling’: the fight to stop big oil pumping billions more into plastics

Plastic production has doubled over the last 20 years – and will likely double again. For author Beth Gardiner, metal water bottles and canvas tote bags are not the solution. So what is?

I'm not convinced . I see parents on their phones, ignoring children in prams or toddling behind, so am not surprised by reports of poor language development in new primary school children. Every day I am dodging adults looking at phones. They are the addicts. Kids will find a way around bans. Adults need to change their relationship with phones.

@pacific06 spending money to gain political power is inherently transactional and it *always* merits intense scrutiny. Anyone who has a large amount of money to spend personally with the expectation of gaining political power in exchange for that money spent is inescapably attempting to buy such power, which demands that they be held to the highest possible standards of ethics, morality, and transparency. The more money they spend to gain power, the more scrutiny is warranted. "Trust me, bro" is what tyrants say. If a leader is worthy of our trust, they and their actions will, nay, MUST survive our scrutiny.

I've gotten in some trouble for this before but never gained any understanding. If you disagree or have a different point of view, I'd love to hear more about it.

I'm confused why professional sports are still divided by gender. It seems to me that coaches and owners should set a performance standard and ANYONE who meets that standard should be eligible.

What did I miss?
