Lulu’s Char Koay Teow in Hardware lane, #Melbourne CBD, now has an expanded menu. Friends and I tried their laksa, but the signature dish char koay Teow reigned supreme. However, the new deep fried tofu was pretty good, and the teh tarik in shaved ice (bingsu) form was novel.

Have settled on a diet schedule of when to have red, white and veg days in the week. I aim to alternate veg or plant-based days with meat days (I don’t consume dairy). If I do eat meat two days in a row, it would be white meat. On meat days, it would be a single serving of up to 250g (pre-cooked weight) of free-range, pasture-raised etc., as close to ethical as possible basically. Two typical weeks could look like the schedule in the photo.

I’ve always loved the look of classic motorbikes, but have been wary of the risks to life and limb that go with riding a bike. As well, I wouldn’t buy one for the same reason I wouldn’t get a car - the air pollution and the emissions involved. Been electric-curious for a while (they minimize and don’t eliminate emissions of course) but haven’t found anything to satiate my aesthetic tastes until coming across this lovely 2-seater from #Maeving. Hope they ship to Aus soon, life and limb be damned!

Bus 53 gets one from Geelong to Torquay in 30-40 minutes, and the rainy afternoon weather gets one soaked from head to toe in 5 - 10 minutes. Still, the excitement of exploring the area for the first time made up for the bad planning. Jan Juc surfers looked like they were having fun in the wild weather.

The ferry slowed for passengers to take in some seals living their best lives on a buoy. Impressed they managed to get up there.

Such a nice feeling to see the problems from a hectic work week fade in the rear view mirror for a day.

Easy marker to describe where to meet at the journey start… “look for the rectangular cow marooned in a tree”

When you’re in such extreme autopilot that you enter ‘organic ramen’ into Spotify’s search bar instead of your grocery shopping app. Up comes organic trance, your curiosity is piqued (as opposed to inorganic trance?), and you follow it to a Spotify playlist of the same name, and give it a listen. It sucks. Damn autopilot.

Found some signage in Melbourne CBD greeting me in one of my local South Africanlanguages, from the other side of the Indian Ocean. ‘Goeiedag’ means ‘good day’. In Afrikaans. Unfortunately, no ‘Sawubona’ (isiZulu) or ‘Molo’ (isiXhosa), but hey, beggars can’t be choosers.

Found a winner jaffle at Union Kiosk, which specializes in vegan jaffles. This beaut was buffalo ‘chicken’, pickles, ranch and ‘cheese’. Your meat and dairy lovers could easily be fooled. Nice sheltered arcade/walkway to eat in too.
