A friendly reminder that in these days of total distraction and flooding with white supremacist, neo-reactionary, totalitarian politics, we should be kind to ourselves and read what keeps us focused and in touch with what each of us stands for. I realised that in the last few weeks I had started to read Curtis Yavis and and a lot of news articles (important, for sure) but had forgotten to read bell hooks and other important voices. Here are some words from Ursula K. le Guin: "All of us have to learn how to invent our lives , make them up, imagine them. We need to be taught these skills; we need guides to show us how. If we don't, our lives get made up for us by other people." (The Wave in the Mind, 2004).
