I understand the hurling of projectiles in one's front lawn is a customary bonding activity with one's offspring.
... am I doing this right?
Oliver is a CSE Prof teaching databases and data structures. He enjoys HEMA, cooking, photography, home automation, and coding random stuff. He built a notebook for collaborative, reproducible data science called Vizier (https://vizierdb.info) and now works on scaling datalog on commodity hardware (https://git.odin.cse.buffalo.edu/Norn/Draupnir)
Expect posts here to be mostly about #draupnir, #vizier, bad puns, #photo graphy, and/or travel logs.

The sword wall grows!
I finally got around to mounting the swiss crossbow and handaxe I got last summer, as well as the gorgeous chinese twin sword gifted to me by @amazing_ying
At any rate, made it to the still gorgeous Utica Union station! The station survives, and even thrives, as a Utica and Oneida county government building, serving as home for the Utica DMV, Oneida Sheriff's office, and several other government offices... in addition to its role as an Amtrak station.
The restaurant here with the ridiculous Cobb salad closed down. Fortunately, the area is hipster central here, so I got my hands on some trout Benedict.
Good times.
The traditional hike to castle rock, with its excellent views, and commiseration and venting about AI and its impact on academia, as well as the obligatory excellent views.
Shorter ride today down the so-called Fulton Chain of Lakes, creatively named First Lake... Second Lake, Third Lake... My route took me along the scenic Route 28, from Old Forge to Blue Mountain lake. I made good time, in no small part due to the blackflies that were doing their hardest to make sure that I did not take too many, or too long breaks.
#Minnowbrook2026 begins!
Once again, I have defeated my dread nemesis, Potato Hill, earning me a ride along the delightful Moose River. Halfway to #Minnowbrook2026 , I am treating myself to brief respite in the town of Old Forge, gateway to the #Adirondacks.
The journey continues tomorrow...
The #Terminator series got the emergence of #Skynet right... but not the form it would ultimately take.
