@argv_minus_one AFAIK they fake it based on a sort of LOD system (for simulation precision instead of visuals).
Nearby objects can be simulated at sub-meter precision, while for far away objects you can use AU instead of meters. That of course introduces the need to convert from one unit system to another as the player or camera moves around. As long as the player can't move too quickly back and forth from a location to another then they shouldn't notice the imprecise conversion.

Looking at this makes me wonder - is the text readable at the size it's actually going to be on-screen? Even up close like this some letters (like S) aren't *super* readable, which is why I ask about their readability.
