Times past long ago but can you still feel it?

This week in #Windows updates:
Secure update installation failure, requiring manual installation of the patches
Failed (forced) OneDrive sync that can randomly wipe your disk if you disable it, because the engineers at Microsoft have forgotten how to implement a sync logic that can tell the difference between “disabled” and “all files are gone” (and perhaps haven’t even bothered to add a test for a rare scenario such as a user who doesn’t want to have all their files constantly synced to the cloud)
Remember those times when folks used to tell us “I don’t want to use Linux because it’s too hard and it breaks too often, and with Windows everything works with one click”?
We’re way beyond #enshittification here. When a company that has been in the business of developing operating systems for nearly 50 years can no longer ship updates that don’t brick your existing installation we’re already at the stage of decomposed manure.
