Still working through the silhouette issues and growth spurts with shadows. More sketches from reference photos taken at the local Farmers’ Market Gouache and ink.

Not sure what I think of these. I used color markers for the shadows but took these pictures in black and white to see how they’d print up. I love sketching the line work and filling in the black around the figures. But in the past I have stopped there without indicating any shadows (and therefore sacrificing subtle depth) for the most part. I’m feeling like I’m finally willing to explore the shadows a little. 🤷‍♀️

This year’s project is to be centered around showing up for sketching daily and reacquainting myself with watercolor pencils.
