This shouldn’t need to be said: While you might disagree with the idea that we #BringBackMasks to keep students and educators from ending up sick or in hospital, or you’re angry that we might prevent you from spreading disease, you cannot swear, insult, or threaten. Seriously.
Heading to the cottage for the first time without Summer. I don’t have the energy for hateful, disrespectful mail or messages this weekend, so I’m unplugging to recharge for next week. If Twitter goes the way of the dodo, take good care and see you on Mastodon. Shabbat shalom.
So much anger. When paediatric hospitals are begging you to mask, but you won’t, it isn’t outrageous to require masks. Politicians won’t do what’s needed because they care more about votes. Health & safety protocols should be the priority, not popularity. #BringBackMasks #WeNotMe
Leadership means walking the walk. We will show you how it is done, at our meeting to #BringBackMasks to take care of students and educators. Here’s the motion. To angry parents: There are worse things than wearing a mask indoors. Speak to parents whose children can’t breathe.
Dear parents saying, “Haven’t our children been through enough?” Yes, and we haven’t done what we should to prevent them from spreading respiratory illnesses, ending up in hospital. We will #BringBackMasks to take care of students, families, educators. https://ocdsb.ca/news/special_board_meeting_-_nov_22
Special Board Meeting - Nov 22

In case this world is burned to the ground, my #Mastodon handle is @nilikm - see you there. Doesn’t matter which server you are on, you can follow others in different servers.
Progress! The meeting date to debate the motion to #BringBackMasks at our school board (@[email protected]) has been set for Tues Nov 22, 6:30pm. Let’s get to work ensuring the health and safety of students and educators. Protective measures are about taking care of each other. #WeNotMe
Amazing students at @[email protected] (Canterbury High School, Ottawa) - so impressed by the live string quartet at the awards night! Photo shared with permission. This school rocks!
The notice of motion to #BringBackMasks was sent to @[email protected] trustees today. Meeting to discuss early next week and date to implement TBD. Heartbreaking that while we debate children are at risk. Also sad that it is left up to us to act. This is about health and safety. #WeNotMe
On this lovely (though wintery) day, I just had a tour of @[email protected] - so impressed by all the incredible programs and staff and students there. Next up, I’ll listen to @[email protected] antisemitism education workshop, and then I’ll go to @[email protected]’s student awards event.
