I’ve been thoroughly enjoying Prof Nemerov’s current Art History course at Stanford (Continuing Studies), “The Person: A Meditation on Art”. As always, Prof Nemerov - a true kindred spirit - is taking the class on an extraordinary, moving journey through the beauty of our existence as people, and how art can help us stay in touch with (or re-discover) this beauty.
This week’s class was on the subject of Evil, and included this slide. The Thin Red Line is one of the most astonishingly transcendent films I’ve ever seen, and I was wondering if it was going to make an appearance at some point during the course.
(the course is still open, with class videos provided if you miss one (i only just caught up this week after my trip).. it weaves together poetry, literature, philosophy, film as well as visual art: https://continuingstudies.stanford.edu/courses/liberal-arts-and-sciences/the-person-a-meditation-on-art/20253_ARTH-63-Z )
