640k ought to be enough casualties for anyone
The scene where Frances McDormand (a cop) realises that her old high school friend is a fantasist. It seems really relevant.

My recovery from the myfascial aspect of FND, while not complete, is astonishing. It is achieved remarkably simply, but it is painstaking. I never thought I would be a craftsman of my own body.

I wonder how generalisable it is. I suspect extremely, but I’m not sure how to select people who would benefit from it.

Given it must be prevalent in people with symptoms of PTSD (TMJ issues, bruxism, etc), I would probably start there. But ethically there would be a barrier.

I suspect there are subcultures where abuse is ritualised, or at least extremely common.

I do wonder about Traditional Chinese Medicine. It appears to have nailed a good thing 3000 years ago, but to admit the reasons for its efficacy, would be to admit the conditions for its efficacy.

The Chinese civil war, the cultural revolution, the massive displacement of people from their families, the OCPC policy - this must have produced an enormous intergenerational trauma.

I look forward to finding out more about this.

And “Smileys people”, for that matter.
But for some people, they read that and think - “what a great idea!”
Gotta say - somedays I feel like the kid in “The ones who walk away from Omelas”
Am I glad I watched “Fargo” all those years ago.
As has been pointed out to me - there are many conditions which lead to social masking. But mostly they don’t need counter tactics. Quite the reverse, in fact.
I feel I should clarify. If you notice a sociopath in mid-manipulation, offer even more than their manipulation would give them. They won’t believe their luck! But realise enjoying it too much would give the game away! But have they already? How would a normal person behave? Glitch!
