finished the sixth #TheCulture novel by Iain M. Banks. one thing I've noticed in these culture-centric books is that I unconsciously root for whoever is against the Culture. From the first novel (Consider Phlebas) to this one I've always seen the Culture as a hegemonizing force that's akin to europeans during the age of discovery. I guess being a global south citizen who's aware of the horrors of colonialism will influence me in how I digest these books.
