Hackathon - March 2025 (Online / Distributed)

A virtual hackathon with local sites to develop nf-core together

This is an exciting one - the first @nf_core pipeline for remotely sensed satellite imagery 🛰️ alongside auxiliary data. It produces a set of trend files related to land-cover changes 🌍

Congrats to Felix Kummer and team on this milestone! 🎉

rangeland: Introduction

Pipeline for remotely sensed imagery. The pipeline processes satellite imagery alongside auxiliary data in multiple steps to arrive at a set of trend files related to land-cover changes.

The @nf_core Slack org passed a pretty significant milestone a few hours ago:

🎉 WE JUST HIT 10,000 SLACK USERS! 🎉

What an incredible milestone! Thank you to all of your for being part of this amazing community! 💚

Do you work with bioinformatics in a clinical / regulatory setting? You might be interested in the #regulatory "special interest group" that's just started in @nf_core 👩🏻‍⚕️👨🏻‍⚕️📋

The group had its kick-off meeting yesterday, with a fantastic turnout and some great discussion 💬
We put together a short highlights video with a handful of quotes below ✨ and you can catch up on the full meeting with the recording on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/live/_hYPuzkd2H0 📺

This section goes on to chart the experiences of the #EuroFaang consortia and the benefits of gradual adoption of #Nextflow and @nf_core.

The final result is nuanced and truthful and we hope it can provide a blueprint for other consortia.

The second half of the paper describes the experience of the #EuroFaang consortia as they adopted @nf_core.

We cover initial motivations and hurdles, with a figure showing how maintenance of community-owned pipelines can shift over time, a true superpower of
@nf_core

In the introduction, we look into usage and citations of workflow managers. It's clear that their popularity is surging, notably those that are command-line tools.

Citations of #Nextflow have especially jumped in recent years.. 📈

The @nf_core pipelines are flexible by design, meaning that different groups can run the same pipeline in multiple ways. Interest groups can help to standardise usage across fields and disciplines.

Today we're launching @nf_core "Special Interest Groups" - a place to discuss topics with others in your specific field(s) of research, bringing people together to collaborate in a new way.

Collaborate not just on tools, but how those tools are used 🛠️
