Just now on the high-speed train line between Schiphol and Rotterdam. This is feels like a straight piece of track, not a curve. I wonder if this requires some longer repair work or if it can be fixed just re-packing the gravel... At least parts of the track are set in concrete though. #crossborderrail

One of the funny things of living in the #netherlands is to harvest figs from our #amsterdam garden in October during a really grey and rainy autumn.
Any self-respecting person from the middle east would laugh at them until they shrivel, but they are ours and they taste like figs in an endearingly similar way to how Dutch tomatoes taste like tomatoes.

#crossborderrail Amsterdam București in 35 hours. Got a lot faster since Romania became full part of Schengen, and the idiot Germans racked up so much overtime for their border agents that the annoying checks mostly don't happen anymore. And I spied a fancy new railtrack close to Brașov that looked almost ready. Still, < 50 km/h for most of the journey between Budapest and here...
