There is plenty of genuine issues in the "AI". Why do news outlets think that we need clickbaity disinformation like this?
An average microwave consumes over a 1kWh, if the magnetron runs continuously for an hour (which no sane microwave will do). That's about 3 hours of continuous usage of a typical 3090, which can generate 5 second videos in about 15 minutes.
So, the numbers here seem exaggerated by around 12x.

We are at the next level of stupid, where American Department of Defense now claims open-source to be less transparent than proprietary software, completely ignoring that most of the supply-chain of proprietary software is also going to be open-source, unless they have the budgets to create entire tech-stacks from scratch.

The dumbest timeline only keeps getting dumber.

Pentagon looks to shake up "outdated" software procurement, declares war on open source

DOD is revamping its software procurement systems

Waited for an hour, but no #aurora in Spreewald 😔

Gnome 48 also brings so many improvements to Gnome Mobile.
Scrolling is just as smooth as it's on Android.
OSK and Touch text selection are better now.
And the cameras have started working on #Oneplus6
Overall, it's getting to where it is starting to feel like a real alternative 🤩️.

My dream of crawling away from the clutches of Big-Tech gets closer.

Had to fight nftables to let the devices talk to each others, but 5 node docker swarm cluster is working now.
Avg latency is under 100ms, but iperf3 shows that bandwidth is seriously limited at around 250Mb/s between the devices.
They also each got Chandrakanta themed names 😅.
Time to build a new, portable, and cursed sdm845 cluster for self-hosting and for lulz. #postmarketos
No, I don't want to buy mmwave sensors by the Kilo.

@netroy Cute guinea pigs! I'm excited for the #op6 and #op6t camera support! What app did you take that photo with?
@netroy ooooh I have been waiting for this for a long time!! How can I try it? I went to the wiki, but the camera is still listed as non working. Tried to just update and install Megapixels, but it never starts...

@penguin86 the changes aren't all merged yet https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/merge_requests/6148

but you can try this so:
- install `mrtest`
- then run `mrtest add 6148` to install the custom kernel, and restart the phone.
- install `qcam` and run it to preview 2 of the 3 cameras.

warning: userspace still needs a lot of work. and while some people have managed to get snapshot and libcamera working, this is far from ready for general use.

Draft: linux-postmarketos-qcom-sdm845: upgrade to 6.13.0 and add cameras for op6 (!6148) · Merge requests · postmarketOS / pmaports · GitLab

Enable all the missing kconfig check options and ship initial camera support so folks can play around with it and start working on the userspace bits.

@netroy oooh nice it kinda works! And it was really simple to test it, I didn't know I coluld install a mr with literally a single command!
It works every time in qcam, and I saw it working on Gnome Camera a couple of times, altough very zoomed.
Very good progress!
