The pit is approx 3.5km long, and 1.5km wide, and with a depth of around 600 metres - this is one seriously big hole in the ground. The opportunity to view a working mine site in action and the chance of watching a blast keep the Lookout firmly on the local must do list.

Explore one of Australia’s most significant industrial heritage sites, a showcase for the Goldfields Water Supply Scheme. Commissioned in 1903, No 1 Pump Station at Minderinjy was the first of eight steam pump stations constructed as part of the Goldfields Water Supply Scheme. Designed by CY O’Connor the pipeline traverses a distance of 560 km from the Perth hills to the WA Goldfields to bring precious water to this notoriously dry part of the state.

The Old Perth Boys School, located at 139 St Georges Terrace, Perth, Western Australia, is the earliest government school building in Western Australia. The single-storey limestone (sandstone) building was designed by William Ayshford Sanford (as Colonial Secretary) in around 1852 (construction began around 1853 and was completed in 1854), and is a good example of the colonial / Gothic-revival style used in mid-nineteenth century Perth. The building is owned by the National Trust of WA and currently leased to Curtin University, which uses it for events, exhibitions and university-activities rather than as a public museum. It is not generally open to the public as a regular tourist site.
