I'm 2/3 of the way into my month-long break from reading social media.

The verdict? I dunno. My feed was already pretty curated, and strictly time-of-post-based. I don't have massive FOMO but I've definitely missed it.

I HAVE read more books, which seems like a good thing.

So I'll probably be back at the end of the month. I've missed your satire and pixel art!

But I'll be watching to see how much time it's consuming, and how much rage-bait I see (even in my pared-down feed).

When my disposable coffee cup lid leaks, it's not my stained jeans I get mad about. It's that I can no longer trust disposable coffee cups going forward.

Except I'm the one who put the lid on loose, so I guess I can't trust myself.

I'm pretty sure 3 of my 4 adult children are having suicidal ideation at least occasionally. (The 4th doesn't understand there's anything wrong with the world because he's intellectually disabled.)
#Cox internet is down again. On the plus side, I scored 2,367 at the dino game!

We're excited to launch our most-requested Bridgy Fed feature: being able to interact with unbridged users!

Starting today, when people interact with you on the other side of the bridge, you'll get a notification over DM along with a "respond" link, where you can like, repost, reply, or block.

More details here: https://blog.anew.social/launch-interact-with-unbridged-replies-mentions/

Launch: Interact with Unbridged Replies & Mentions

Last year, we launched a feature for Bridgy Fed that sent a DM of an hourly digest of interactions that we couldn't bridge back to your native platform. While that gave you visibility into interactions you normally wouldn't have, you still had to have an account in the other ecosystem

The answer is not “have you tried wearing noise canceling headphones”.

The answer is “don’t let extroverts decide on office policy and design”.

One day I want to make a video game where you have a dedicated button to make your character roll their eyes and pantomime jerking off during any cutscene. I'll set up the game's telemetry so that I can view a heat map of which lines make people press it the most.
