@eliteamdgamer @eliteamdgamer.bsky.social yes yes I hate the term but i3's def more of a superuser thing if only because it goes against everything most people know about window managers. but god is it powerful if you know how to use it! nix is chill. I've been meaning to try it long-term but college is rough lol. Maybe for winter break though, I'm excited about it. lots of new development :3

I think the problem is time has made me into a stubborn old person at the ripe age of 18 and I genuinely just feel comfortable in i3 to the point where, as much as I love system-hopping, if I had to stay in one distro and have one setup, it'd be arch i3. It's personal choice though. I swear by my config files.

@eliteamdgamer @eliteamdgamer.bsky.social I don't think i3wm *needs* a desktop suite though. If you're an i3wm user it's kind of assumed you have your own preferences already, I love installing vanilla arch and i3wm on it because it means I can build my desktop from scratch. And that's the whole point of Linux for me.

@eliteamdgamer @eliteamdgamer.bsky.social granted I'm an i3 nerd (if I haven't made this obvious enough) and tiling wms are the only way to go for me (or at least keyboard-based desktops! I can't imagine using the mouse for everything). But i3wm isn't a desktop, and desktop-suite-wise I'd...probably agree. KDE is really pretty. How do you feel about xfce? I think it's probably my favorite window-based desktop.
