We're having our Christmas Away Day, talking about AI and how we should (or shouldn't) use it in our work. Keep an eye out for some blog posts based on our discussions.
Also, a rare opportunity to get most of the team together all in one place!
Today is #InternationalRSEDay! In our latest blog post, we share some of our team's biggest achievements and success stories from the last 12 month. #RSEDay2025
We're hiring! We have an opening in the Newcastle RSE Team for a Research Software Engineer/Data Scientist.
For more info and to apply, check out the link below.

Remember, the Society has a jobs page, where you can post and view RSE and related roles.
We currently have some vacancies at Newcastle University and the University of Oxford. #Vacancies #RSEng
You can post a vacancy here for any role that involves a significant element of writing software for research, or supports the role of RSEs. Vacancies anywhere in the world are welcome. We have also collated resources to help improve EDIA for recruitment, as well as other job boards. It is not a requirement that your job title is listed as “Research Software Engineer” however you should consider the advantages of doing so. I.e.: If your job involves supporting RSEs in their role or is otherwise related to RSE without directly involving writing software for research, it will be published under ‘Related non-RSE’. You can submit a job advert using this form and it will go to a member of our web team for approval. Please also consider adding the role description to our RSE Career Ladder database. Other RSE organisations may have their own job boards so have a look at theirs too. RSE Job Vacancies Related non-RSE / RSE-like Vacancies These vacancies are not necessarily for RSE positions, but we believe they may still be of interest to our community.
In September, I'll be back on the road, bringing my talk to #RSECon25, #RSAA25 and The Alan Turing Institute. I'll discuss what I've been up to so far, the ConveRSE website and future plans for my @SoftwareSaved Fellowship.
Please check out the site. I want it to be a hub for #MentalHealth information and resources for the research software community. I'd be grateful for any feedback, as well as any suggestions for content, blog posts and other contributions.
