1. Wow! I got 8 1/2 hours of sleep last night. I usually get only 6.
2. First day of the 32nd Annual NCECA Conference -- National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts. It's in Detroit this year, less than an hour from where I live. This is my first time going and I'm super excited!
3. I am donating a pair of espresso cups that I made to the NCECA Cup Exhibition & Sale. Proceeds from the sale go to support the activities of NCECA. (photo attached)
Mama's left leg is sometimes the best place to rest your big head.
1. My 42 ceramic buttons came out of the glaze kiln this morning. Several fellow potters marveled over them and started playing with them. They're VERY tactile. I'm so pleased with how they turned out. (photo attached)
2. My bowl, on the other hand, didn't turn out at all like I had expected. Maybe that's a good thing? (2 photos attached)
3. I'm tired of cooking, so my husband is out hunting for Greek carry out.

1. Went to my pottery studio and found that my latest experiment combining my two crafts -- knitting and pottery -- worked! My knitted thing slathered with B-Mix slip came out of the bisque firing in one piece. Next step: experiments in glazing. (photo attached)
2. Went to Songbird Cafe in Ann Arbor for a fancy latte and a sandwich and saw some delightful sketches of local birds drawn by one of the baristas. Made me smile! (photo attached)
3. Not too cold out.

1. Normally, I do wheel-throwing at the pottery studio, but all wheels were occupied. So I decided to do something outside my comfort zone with hand building. I went all out and made a big bowl (about 14 inches in diameter), with texture on the inside. (photo attached)
2. Went for a nice walk with the dog and saw my first crocuses of 2026.
3. Detroit-style pizza for lunch. So good!
How to spot a science/math nerd. Happy Pi Day!! How will you celebrate?
Seen from inside The Broad museum. They have fantastic exhibits. I highly recommend a visit.
I was also shocked at how reliable public transportation has become in Los Angeles (both bus and metro systems). And if you are 62+ years of age, the senior price for a ticket is 35 cents! My husband and I were giddy to be old enough to get the senior discount.
