I care 100X more about *how* you argue and how you treat the people you disagree with than I care about what you think.

The sound is off at the airport, but it certainly looks like Venezuela won the final WBC game over the US.

(a) My condolences to the innocent people of Venezuela who will be forcibly annexed into the US very early tomorrow morning.

(b) I really wish I knew where best to troll all the MAGA dimwits who care about baseball about this result specifically being Trump's personal fault. Unfortunately, all the baseball fans I can think of are tech journalists and decidedly not in that camp....

One creepy takeaway from the most recent visit to my parents' place is the sheer number of TV commercials utilizing variants the script: "a car's Check Engine light may come on at any time; it's unpredictable. If it does you suddenly get charged 10,000 dollars and cars are unknowable black boxes, so buy this monthly 'service' from us."

My parents are immune to this message because my dad's a retired shade-tree mechanic, but it's sucky โ€” and I'm certain the equivalents are coming for computers.

some admin at rando.q.fediverseserver doesn't flip the bit for quote-tweets and it's we, the well-meaning, quick-witted, erudite internet pundits (with cool hobbies and impeccable fashion sense) who suffer the consequences by not getting our important jibes delivered effectively and efficiently to the anxious, humor-starved public.

Not saying it'll help with the homophones directly, but it does take up a lot of one's time.

@evan They had that coming, though. The Valar were pretty clear about the limit of the ban.
@evan I'M OFFENDED THAT ATLANTIS IS OMITTED
A very happy Pi Day to everyone complaining about other people saying happy Pi Day.
@ivor I appreciate the info on densities. I ran out of space in the original post, but it is already clear that "EVA" is the generic class of foam most cosplayers use, and what I have really been lacking is more detail than that. When I've seen material for sale IRL, it's clear that there are a lot of variables, and I'm not entirely persuaded that the cellphone-packing stuff is EVA, vs that just being the first variety everyone thinks of! Anyway, as I was saying, thanks for the density info!

Marwari แธa is an outlier in the Devanagari script, having its stem connection to the head stroke on the left rather than on the right or centered. Tiro Devanagari currently positions reph and vowel marks as shown in the top row, optically above the right side of the letter, which corresponds to the typical location on other lettersโ€™ stem, and avoids vowel signs colliding with above line marks and shapes of preceding letters. [Other fonts do likewise, but maybe theyโ€™re copying what I did.]

Wondering if the positioning in the second row might be appropriate, and whether anyone has examples from earlier print or manuscript to support either positioning?
