I wouldn't know, I play as the neurodivergent turtle with an impulse to dance upon bah bah. I think playable Koopa Troopa is non-binary, like how playable Yoshi is called masculine terms and playable Birdo is called feminine terms despite each of them also being a whole species of Sauropsida in the Mario universe.
"Nooooo tall women and short men don't make sense!!!" Problematic assumptions aside, I guess that means Mario and Peach are mythological beings above and beyond the human plane now?
P.S. if this gains traction, I don't mean these things done unintentionally. I mean the people who do these things over and over in an attempt to desensitise someone against their will, or to impress their equally terrible friends, or ragebait, or anything like this. Also, to be completely clear, being trans is not a mental illness, but someone who uses "mental illness" as an insult is, without a doubt, ableist.
Reminder that people who claim trans people are mentally ill so they can misgender them are transphobes, but also ableists. This attitude is the gender equivalent of screaming repeatedly as a "joke" next to someone sensitive to loud noises, adding a flavor or ingredient to something against someone's request, or getting too close to someone who asks you to keep a distance for sensory or trauma reasons.
