Union is Plasma's new theming engine that unifies and formalises a bunch of KDE technologies, streamlining the design of themes and improving the experience for the people who use them.

But how can you build new, more resistant and consistent themes using Union?

We wrote you a 2 minute FAQ to get you started:

New, from me: 'Popa' Botnet Linked to Publicly Traded Israeli Firm

"For the past four years, a sprawling Android-based botnet called Popa has forced millions of consumer TV boxes to relay Internet traffic linked to advertising fraud, account takeovers, and mass data-scraping efforts. This week, researchers from multiple security firms concluded that the Popa botnet is linked to NetNut, a “residential proxy” provider operated by the publicly-traded Israeli firm Alarum Technologies Ltd [NASDAQ: ALAR]."

There is an incredible amount of interesting data and findings in the reports on Popa released this week. For example, the proxy detection service Spur told me they recently scraped the LG and Samsung app stores and found that each had approximately 3,000 apps available for download. Spur said it found that more than 42 percent of apps available for download via the webOS operating system on LG smart TVs include SDKs that turn one’s television into an always-on residential proxy node. More than a quarter of the apps made for Samsung’s Tizen operating system had similar residential proxy components, Spur found.

The concentration of power in Silicon Valley happened partly because we let it. We accepted a few platforms as inevitable. We built our communities there because that’s where everyone was. It wasn’t because their technology is better. It was a choice—made again and again by the people on those platforms, by investors, and by policymakers.

A different choice is possible, but it requires that those of us building alternatives actually believe what we say about cooperation. It means assuming good faith from people building different projects. It means investing in infrastructure that doesn’t benefit us alone.

We, the builders of the open social web, are the only ones who can make that choice.

It starts with deciding that our mission matters more than winning alone.

"What COVID is teaching doctors about the relationship between viruses and cancer"

“COVID and influenza do not cause cancer under themselves, but if you have cancer and you have dormant cancer cells that are normally under control by your immune system, getting a severe case of COVID can help reactivate those existing cancers"

Was just talking to a friend at a US technology company, they’ve had their budget reduced by 50% as the company says it wants to announce “the largest layoffs in US corporate history” to prove GenAI can replace jobs.

There’s no plan to actually replace the jobs with GenAI.. they just have to decimate their area.

Not naming company as the staff don’t know they’re about to fed to the line going up.
