Husband and father of three. Working in the satcom business for the last 20+ years.
When not at work or feeding my children, I play with shoes and radios… Well kind off. Not by any means fast (or particular young anymore) I still enjoy running. – Being on the track, trial run in the mountains or easy runs on the road.
I’ve always been interested in radios, communication and technology. This drove me through university with a degree in comms as well as got me into satellite communications.
PSA: It’s rather trivial to fool your satellite terminal to believe it can do sub 3 min/km pace in a 400m track interval sessions. Unlike the improved anaerobic capacity of the #Marlink engineer recording the session, the satellite terminal struggles with it’s connection when the #GNSS signal is spoofed. #satcom #VSAT #Starlink #OneWeb
My first run for the fall in sub-zero temperatures, took place in beautiful Ottawa. #altrarunning Vanish Tempo on my feet and the new Fenix headlamp on my forehead (first part of the run). After the #running, shower and an overpriced hotel breakfast, off to visit #telesat and MDA.
Thanks for all headlamp suggestions after my old and trusty Silva was giving up on its battery.
I went with a Fenix HM65R-T v2.0 for my #trailrunning
Maybe not as strong as the Silva, but half the weight and 2-3 times the runtime.
Even spotted a moose on the trail this morning 🥰
Any recommendations from the Fediverse on a headlamp for #trailrunning My trusty Silva Cross Trail 5R is loosing it's battery capacity. Could the Petzl Nao RL be a good replacement?
I know I could just replace the battery, but that not very exciting 😅 -Also the Cross Trail isn't very comfortable on my forehead, unless wearing a caps or hat.

@sebastianhahn Hi Sebastian! I remember you used to run with the AWU while listening to audiobooks with Audible. Has it been working for you the last few months?
Mine keeps showing “You don’t have any titles in your library”. It’s been like this since October (and 4 app upgrades ago).

Best wishes and a Happy New Year

Anyone got any success with #audiobooks by Amazon #audible on the Apple Watch in the last two months?
According to Reddit it’s an issue affecting many users, including me.
How much blood do I need to sacrifice before the Apple Watch awards me a “Fall detected”…? Btw, what is band-aid in French?
Morning run in Vienne, France. First time here and my planned loop didn’t go as planned at all. Got completely off any path and there wasn’t really enough light to see my footings (the camera boosts the light better than my aging eyes). Tripped and fell hard twice and got all bruised up. In the meeting now stiff as a stick and hoping nobody notice the darker patches emerging on the pants where my poor knees are

While I enjoy #running with just the AWU2, headphones and an audiobook, leaving the phone back home, I often bring it with me for just like situations like this. If I hadn’t snapped a picture of the early morning #AuroraBorealis, I had to just describe how beautiful it was. Now I got it on file to show around ☺️. If I just could get the same sky from a pitch black mountain trail run the next time. #workoutdoorsapp
First run this fall I needed to put on a beanie and gloves. It’s getting a bit chilly in the morning now. Skipping the audiobook in favor off SN993 with @SGgrc and @leo.
Hard to break off after an hour on the track and head home for a shower and then work, with such exiting topics as in this weeks podcast. Thank you for a great listen, SpinRite 6.1 which resurrected a HDD in my Synology and with the upcoming 999 and beyond. #running #SecurityNow
