It's a bit wonky for me (at least when I tried it). I'll probably give it another shot soon though

If AMD does release the open source firmware and it's compatible with my current laptop, I'll definitely switch to it. I'm also much more likely to get AMD for my next cpu.

Also, I can't wait to try out cosmic when it does release. Hopefully it'll be available for other desktops and not just pop os.

@thunderbird
Yeah I've enjoyed using thunderbird. My one small gripe is that there isn't a way to receive emails and notify users of emils in the background (like on a system tray). But otherwise its pretty great.

Nobara in my opinion is a good distro for a tinkerer who likes a proper desktop. It isn't stable for one, sometimes when switching major versions of nvidia drivers, you need manual intervention to actually update the drivers.

The distro is kinda like proton-ge. Not needed for most, but is interesting and boosts performance to those that need it at the cost of stability. Also it comes with auto-cpufreq installed. It's an amazing tool for battery life on laptops.

A lot of people mentioned this, but the real ad block on YouTube is so prevalent is the sheer number of ads on YouTube. In some shorter videos, the ad time is longer than the video duration.

You can dm using Mastodon. How exactly you do this depends on which client you use. But just set the visibility of the post to "direct". This link is a decent tutorial.

How to send direct messages on Mastodon

Yeah, RSS is pretty amazing. Didn't know about the online services like kill the newsletter. Will definitely try it out.

I don't like RSS for videos though since I typically have to have a separate video player for that, or in some cases have to deal with a wonky video player.

If more people start deprecating xorg, then hopefully those proprietary apps will start caring more about xdg portals, even if their app itself runs in xwayland
@serlwch @fdroidorg
Thanks for the suggestion! I'm already using Tusky now, but may try it out at some point in the future
@fdroidorg
That's unfortunate. I can understand if it was like this to begin with, but removing this after it was implemented is a bit iffy to me. I personally am changing my client to Tusky. Not because I fear that Mastodon will go proprietary, but mostly because I'll have relogin anyway, may as well try something else.
