All Apple needs to do now is create a foldable phone with a great tablet experiences, that turns into a great desktop experience when plugged into a monitor.

Ths was the first time in a long time I was writing without the help of LLM‘s (except spell check). I figured: to become a better writer I have to ignore LLM suggestions…

That also make it more scary to put myself out there, since all flaws are 100% me and I can‘t blame ChatGPT.

But anyway, in the end it‘s just a personal blog so who cares. Writing is actually so much more enjoyable without double checking with AI

Motorists & conservative politicians keep complaining about "dictatorial" traffic calming measures such as bollards. Meanwhile:

- 68% of surveyed citizens living in the area approve, 25% dislike the changes
- collisions where humans were harmed down by 29%
- pedestrian & bike accidents down 34%
- car ownership in affected areas decreased by 9% points

Traffic calming is a massive success and most people who say otherwise they are either wrong or have an agenda.

"[...] the European Payments Initiative (EPI) and the EuroPA Alliance signed a landmark agreement to build a pan-European interoperable payment network covering 130 million users across 13 countries. The system, built around the digital wallet Wero, aims to let Europeans pay and transfer money across borders without touching a single American network."

Note that I am NOT saying that attracting VC is a good thing. I personally think that US style startup culture has had its peak and that transplanting it from the US to the EU would be very bad for our people. I'd much prefer a shift towards cooperatives, based on democratic principles that forego the "lonesome hero" myth. That kind of investment would be far more EU style :)

30yrs ago, I started using the internet as an escape from reality.

These last few years, I've started using reality as an escape from the internet.

It’s crazy how Red Dead Redemption 2 is almost 8 years old and still looks better than most games that came out last year.

Art Direction and Optimization is what makes the difference - both weaknesses of AI.

It’s crazy to think we live in a world that values maximalism so much more than good old humans doing incredible stuff.

If the all the AI money would have gone into empowering people, man imagine what we could have gotten.

In my opinion thats the future of appliances…transparent, open source bill of materials, accessible design, components you can buy, 3D print or create with a CNC. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but then everyone probably would have a friend that could help.

The comments though make me less hopeful - people complain about the high price point, instead of showing curiosity over lifetime reliability and possible cost savings.

I think the video is a good example for the need to be more nuanced with our anger as well as praise: some things are improving, some are worse. It’s great to be mad and vocal about what is going wrong (on a facts basis) to signal that there is demand for alternatives - in turn the alternatives should be praised and highlighted.

At the same time, one thing can have great & bad characteristics at the same time, so feedback should also balance that instead of leaning into just one direction.
