was thatstorahbabe on the bird app. now is just fosse. they/them
Last one! #Mercury was last updated two years ago and new ones don’t seem to be coming. I love the app icon customization and having the #TransFlag in my icon. It says in app purchases on the App Store but all the paid features are extra icons or access to “trending” tags. Supports scheduling toots! The dealbreaker for me was that there was no option to block or report in app. Combine that with clunky navigation and #MercuryApp isn’t for me. 24/n
#B4X gets eliminated from my personal running because I cannot figure out how to add more accounts nor #AltText. It’s my least favorite aesthetically, but for a single account that doesn’t post images and doesn’t need alt text it might be fine? It’s definitely a #MastodoniOSApp that Works, so that’s great. I love seeing my tags bookmarked on the sidebar clearly. 23/n
Sigh, #Tootle #TootleForMastodon has my favorite account switching interface but a lot of other dealbreakers for me! No #AltText, a crowded (though customizeable) bottom bar, and renders apostrophes as “'”, which sucks to see and must suck more to hear on screen readers. Last updated going on three years ago, it doesn’t seem likely these will be fixed soon. 22/n
#RomaApp which is not a name i want to hashtag without context, is buggy and hasn’t been updated in two years. Feed is consistently slow to refresh and I couldn’t attach images. The profile icon keeps winking in and out of existence. Skip! 21/n
Avoid #Stella — last updated a year ago, it crashes constantly before you even log in, which, incidentally, i could not! Mastodon.social would not show up! 20/n

quickly — some that I recommend #MastodonForiOS users avoid, at least for now: #tootter. It took me several tries to even successfully log in. There’s a six second ad-roll before getting into the app, and in feed ads (though most are blank for the moment.) not the ideal way I want someone to monetize my mastodon feed! I could not attach an image to a reply, no obvious alt text capabilities. It feels like it’s still in testing.

these two go together bc i cannot speak the language they are in. #iMast is listed on joinmastodon.org, #Dudu I found on the #AppStore. Dudu handles account switching a little clumsily imo, and counts characters Up instead of down to the 500 limit. I ran into Simplified Chinese in the image upload menu and felt the shame of the my ancestors for failing to learn their language in diaspora. also, delete and redraft doesn’t hold you place in a thread! 16/n

okay now an #MastodonforiOS app I actually like a lot!!! #Tooot with three o’s is my favorite of the third party apps. The only one that has consistently sent me push notification and badge notifications for all of my accounts. Open source, updates frequently, has all the post customizations I want including instance specific emojis. A little weird thing about alt text is that I cannot actually see the text as I type it? Hopefully that will be addressed in a future update.

#StarPterano joins the pack of Doesn’t Really Work apps. The interface is really hard to see for me, a person who’s visual impairment is just bog standard near sightedness. Translucent Home/Local/Toot/etc buttons over the actual content on your feed. This alone makes it painful for me to use and I’m just… not gonna try the rest of it. My eyes hurt. I love the icon though. Last update two years ago. When I said every app in the store I meant it y’all

#LibremSocial is a fork of Amaroq, which is still shown on joinmastodon.org as an #MastodoniOS option, even though I cannot see it in the App Store. Last updated three years ago and might have been for one instance only? Every time I try to add mastodon.social the whole thing crashes. Pass on this one. 13/n
