Father of a 7 and 9yo, married to Marina De Vos. he/him. In to photography, synthesizers, and currently learning to play classical guitar from our 9yo, and how not to judge whether people are actively participating or not from our 7yo.

Ported the Microprints library to #elixir. In a Phoenix Liveview development environment , the compiler, and parser are running, and file reloading is a channel you can subscribe to :-). This is great for #moldabledevelopment

The default phoenix liveview directory structure makes it sometimes hard to keep track of what goes where. I now have a view with the 10 most recent files that I can expand to see details.

#AdventOfSystemSeeing day 4. I could draw an image, but writing a blog post fell by the wayside with kids performances, limited time for pair work with @StOnSoftware that needed to go into production software & knowledge sharing before the holidays. Also other blog posts that needed to go out and took time to put together.

Old draft, but 4+1 rules of simple design we still used. So embellished. thanks @marcevers

X: "If you aren't embarrassed by your first release, you left it too late"
Me: Only do this when you are able to iterate.

I accidentally made a task board. Putting it live is not an accident. I saw other people make this, and thought it was naff, and then when I had it, I realised I wanted to use it with @StOnSoftware and @mdalgarno .

having a workspace with most of the days helps though - just write the description next to each day. #AdventOfSystemSeeing . The 'artboard' for day 13 only has the title. yet. #concepts
Day 12, #AdventOfSoftwareSeeing . I took the sample graphic as inspiration and checked two sources - the rest of the sketch probably happened in the alotted time, but I didn't track. Drawing drew out more than I expected, and checking sources, my gut feeling does not appear that far off - I am not combining two wildly incompatoble things.
#AdventOfSystemSeeing Day 11. Did this while very offline, and then some work I could have predicted but didn't popped up. The Alt text has the more useful part of my notes. first part was more freewriting.
I did look up when 'The Goal' was first published... 1984 , 40 years ago this year.
Day 10 #AdventOfSystemSeeing - circle of care and concerns. That went a lot quicker than expected. Creative constraints strike again.
While I was procrastinating at day 10 of #AdventOfSystemSeeing I was wondering whether my chosen problem would be too small. I couldn't come up with constituencies. @oblique_strategies helped me out this morning - "What to maintain". working on a talk means not working on other things... Or does it? I can't program all day long. Variety is the spice of...

Day 9, #AdventOfSystemSeeing - Practice Empathy. resting from a cold today. this has some flow, so is about the only thing I did. instructions: https://mastodon.social/@RuthMalan/113621107746176802
