also a demo of Nam 1975, unpatched and patched on MV1C

#neogeo #romhack

Over the weekend I put together a small static analysis / rom patcher suite targeting Neo Geo M ROMs (Z80 sound engines) for MV1C revision boards.

This was a late model board with a hardware quirk; the left and right sound output pins for ADPCMB were reversed in the trace routing from the IC.

So far I've run it on 240p Test Suite for testing, Nam 1975, Alpha Mission II, and the mister fpga version of Xeno Crisis (which started me on this journey)

@gsuberland you're doing numbers on inst?gr?m

managed to destroy bonding-wire sized traces on one of my mailstation DET1 displays last night and I am still livid

I got carried away trying to reflow the display ribbons and destroyed one of the pads; it lifted with the soldering iron, lifted its trace... and the force was enough to take three other traces with it.

the smallest gauge magnet wire I have around is like 10x the size of the traces

got the cheapest 10Gb media converters I could find after someone brought them to my attention.

they're not complete junk and haven't caught fire yet so that's a plus

have yet to get fiber sfps to play along

unibios has a lot going for it

didn't expect debugging and fault tracing

handy stuff

today was an adventure in experimental cpu upgrades

installed a 68010 in a neo geo mv1c and got a mixed bag of results; some due to my board work mishaps, others due to the way some titles are programmed.

for example, puzzle bobble refuses to boot.

kof2001 is nearly flawless in unibios mvs mode but will hit the exception handler in unibios aes mode

until I get a flashcart and get a grasp on what instructions are doing to the 010, I think I'm going to stick with a 68000 :)

I'm back on my hullshit
heck yeag
building an openmvs (consolized neo geo mvs mv1c)
