I maintain building SwiftUI instead of working on a true AppKit/UIKit replacement was a generational mistake — 7 years later we're back where we started, unable to trust SwiftUI to build a platform around, still in need of a modern, more-powerful and dependable UI framework that spans all the way down, and up, Apple's product line. SwiftUI, outside of watchOS, gained us absolutely nothing of value, and has eroded a lot of the software quality we once took for granted

One of the major disappointments for me in #rust is the const context.

There are so many basic constructs just missing that it isn't even funny.

Want to iterate over a const array of const strings? obviously you have to while loop over it with manual increments, as providing any sort of construct that would allow you to write that less error prone and verbose is not there yet. And there is a long list, and reasons are complicated, but still disappointing.

Für den heutigen Digital Independence Day #DiDay #DIDit habe ich etwas Spezielles: #MetroViz richtet sich an eine kleine, aber feine Zielgruppe: Menschen, die Projektpläne erstellen. Der klassische Weg sind hier GANTT Diagramme, etwa mit MS Project, die aber schnell überkomplex werden und in der Praxis eher abschrecken. MetroViz versucht etwas anderes: weniger Komplexität, dafür aber eine freundliche Metapher die (fast) jede:r mag: U-Bahnpläne. (1/5)
