This is really horrible.

We're not in Barrhaven, but our local crossing guard (and kids) have been involved in several very close calls.

It got so bad that the crossing guard and our school parent council lobbied for a speed camera... which was installed... But not even a year later, the camera was removed by the provincial government.

Accidents happen... but the province and city could be doing so much more to keep pedestrians safe. Shameful and tragic.

The art of Pysanky: traditional egg decorating from Europe

At the height of the US postcard craze, “tall-tale” cards often imagined a land of giant-sized plenty. In this 1909 series, Californian rail cars haul colossal fruit and veg — turning agricultural pride into something surreal and strangely beautiful: https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/giant-produce-postcards/

I don't post TikToks much, but this one got my day started off nice and hopefully it helps someone else who might need that!

Speaking of soft winter light, if you haven't been to the National Gallery yet to see Winter Count, you should go! They have several Group of Seven, Monet and Indigenous pieces on display.

I've always loved the soft colors of wintertime, but this exhibit makes you see winter landscapes with new eyes. It's also a reminder of the depth of human creativity. Refreshingly beautiful. Good for the soul.
