Of course, none of them can support the big salaries of the big papers of old. But nobody ever said a career in journalism had to be as profitable as medicine, dentistry, or owning a Payday loan outlet.
The issue is not whether journalism has to be paid for, it does. But who pays, how, and how much is the only real issue. “They can just go to the library” …

What we're getting is wall to wall spam generators, optimized for passing the (modified) Turing test and convincing gullible humans that they are "intelligent".
Instead of the singularity, we are getting the spamularity.

When I was little, I learned to pronounce it "feb-you-airy". When I got older and learned how to spell, I started saying "feh-brew-airy". Now I'm old and lazy, and I just mumble my way through "feh-boo-airy" and most people understand what I'm saying.
