Personally, I think it’s weird that a giant tech monopoly (Google) gets a pass for indexing the Fediverse, but if a hobbyist wants to build Fediverse search, they are looked upon with suspicion.

This makes no sense.

@mmasnick I think this is fantastic. While I’ll probably always be one of those folks who prefers self hosting, I think it’s great if people join the Fediverse through a brand they trust. Some may stay in the manicured gardens, some may set up their own estates, and others may venture off into the wilds.

It feels like the early days of the internet again.

I obviously have no say on Mastodon's future development, but I've already brought up comment control as an official feature request in Mastodon's Github repo.

It's worth discussing how we can make the Fediverse better.

Mastodon doesn’t officially support groups, but Friendica does. However, Mastodon interprets group sharing as boosts.

Remember: while Mastodon is part of the Fediverse, it is not the Fediverse.
