Catalina KAVX → Hollywood Burbank KBUR

A scenic flight over the Los Angeles area, climbing up to Mount Wilson, followed by a descent directly to LA Downtown, then eastward past Hollywood Hills to Burbank.

Everything except the ascent into the mountains was flown by hand. It was incredibly smooth, as the Corvalis TT (Cessna 400) handled like a dream in the great weather with little wind.

Die Sonne arbeitet sich heute Morgen sehr langsam durch den Nebel.

Palm Springs International KPSP → Catalina KAVX

It's new plane day! With the Cirrus Vision SF50, I'm heading back to the Pacific Coast from Palm Springs. The sky kept getting cloudier, so a few planned views unfortunately didn’t happen. Better weather is forecast for tomorrow!

Calexico International KCXL → Palm Springs International KPSP

Instead of taking the short, direct route, I decided to make a detour through Joshua Tree National Park and approach Palm Springs from the north. With the TBM 930, the visit to the national park was significantly shorter than by car (where you can – and should! – easily spend an entire day).

Imperial Beach KNRS → Calexico International KCXL

As promised, a new adventure begins.

Takeoff just before sunrise in Imperial Beach: The colors of the clouds hint at a spectacular dawn. And I wasn’t disappointed.

A little fun with city names: Today's destination Calexico sits just north of the Mexican border, with a city named Mexicali waiting on the other side.

Helgoland-Düne EDXH → St. Michaelisdonn EDXM

A little filler until the next big journey starts.

The Beechcraft Bonanza brought me in perfect weather from Helgoland to the eastern side of the Elbe estuary. From here, I will sporadically continue heading south.

But first things first: Tomorrow marks the beginning of a new adventure along the West Coast of North America. Stay tuned.

Florida Keys Marathon KMTH → Key West International KEYW

This is it!

After 34 legs, I have now flown the eastern coast of North America from the eastern tip of Newfoundland to the end of the Florida Keys. What could be a better choice for flying the last miles than the good, old Cessna 152?

I've already an idea for the next journey, so stay tuned :-)

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International KFLL → Florida Keys Marathon KMTH

How time flies! Today’s stage takes us from Fort Lauderdale via Miami Beach all the way to the Florida Keys. That means, the destination of this journey is almost in sight. Before we get there, though, we've got some stunning views of the Miami metropolitan area.

Grand Bahama International MYGF → Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International KFLL

After the quick detour to the Bahamas, I’m back in Florida. The approach into Fort Lauderdale came in from the east, flying directly over the airport. After a 180-degree turn over the Everglades, I then lined up for landing. As in the days before, there were strong crosswinds 🤷‍♂️
