Looking back at the residency in Niigata, which was made possible thanks to YUI-PORT's Autonomous Activity Program 2024 Winter. Just as during the previous residency in Itoshima, artists from Niigata and the wider Chūbu region were invited to submit works and ideas for the new exhibition which – together with the yatai itself – would depart for Berlin after the end of the stay.

After the residency at Studio Kura, the Misemono-Yatai needed to travel 1200km to its next destination YUI-PORT – the most challenging journey thus far. Fortunately, Yoshio Nakano and his trusty 1985 Mitsubishi Delica came to the rescue once more. Many thanks to him and to Operation Table curator Makiko Matake, who helped to plan our epic sea and road journey.

Following the show at Operation Table (QMAC), the Misemono-Yatai traveled from Kitakyushu City to rural Itoshima. At artist-in-residency Studio Kura, organizer Tatjana collaborated with local and international artists to develop a new exhibition for the mobile project space, which would then continue its journey to YUI-PORT in Niigata and onward to Berlin.
