It's ridiculous that I'm not receiving my payout from Patreon due to their broken PayPal integration. I changed my PayPal email a few days ago, and *surprise* they're still sending payments to the old address. 🤦‍♂️

Ever heard of a PayerID? That’s what we use to not have to rely on something as fragile as an email address. What’s the point of authenticating via PayPal if you don’t even use the one piece of data that actually matters?

Come on, Patreon. This is basic stuff.

GNOME Has a New Infrastructure Partner: Welcome AWS!

https://discourse.gnome.org/t/gnome-has-a-new-infrastructure-partner-welcome-aws/29331

With an ever-growing contributor base, GNOME infrastructure has an increasing number of demands placed on it — and only two engineers. AWS saved us from the burden of manually scaling our infra. Thank you AWS!

GNOME Has a New Infrastructure Partner: Welcome AWS!

This post was contributed by Andrea Veri from the GNOME Foundation. GNOME has historically hosted its infrastructure on premises. That changed with an AWS Open Source Credits program sponsorship which has allowed our team of two SREs to migrate the majority of the workloads to the cloud and turn the existing OpenShift environment into a fully scalable and fault tolerant one thanks to the infrastructure provided by AWS. By moving to the cloud, we have dramatically reduced the maintenance...

The cpak website is still under development, but a draft version is already online, some pages are still missing.

We also have a presskit 🥳 https://cpak.it/branding/presskit

Ps. It is not mobile yet.

I’ve been feeling a bit out of place in the Linux desktop world lately, like I can’t just use a desktop anymore, I don’t see the env, I see the layers, the struct, the building behind it all.. idk, maybe that’s the cost of being too close for too long.

Sometimes I miss the old days: a simple WM, a terminal, and me without thinking about architecture, design, governance… just hacking.

Maybe it’s just me. Maybe life’s shifting, and priorities with it. Maybe I just wanna be a user and dev again.

Spoiler of what I'll talk about at #GUADEC2025

(The fact I am showcasing a Desktop application is just because the page looks better, primary usecase of cpak is not for Desktop apps but IoT and Servers. But yeah it does support desktop apps as well).
