@mntmn The medium of information entry doesn't change the content of the information. You can type the same text more quickly than writing with a fountain pen, but you're still writing it. The "but you're no longer using a fountain pen to write" comparison is apples to oranges, since with an LLM, sure it comes up with information faster than typing it, but you are not creating the information.

@howard @pluralistic Such truth in this article, and it's cathartic to read as I have a friend who obsessively tells me about the DnD campaign she's playing with ChatGPT. I don't know how to tell her that there is nothing less interesting in the world than the activities one conducts with a clanker.

@scalzi My Fifth Gen Nano still works just fine. Not an Apple enthusiast by any means, but prior to getting that, I burned through at least four generic brand MP3 players (Sansa, Zen, etc) that all lasted less than a year apiece. Apple made good products with the iPod Nano line.

@pheonix A Zire Palm Pilot circa 2001. Still works flawlessly, though I haven't been able to figure out how to connect it to a computer and get some shareware onto it these days.
