let's stop with the negativity in the replies to completely harmless things. I see this so much on social media and find myself increasingly on the receiving end of it, but the amount of people replying to others' hobbies and joys with these debbie downer replies that 1) bring the focus on the self, rather than the original poster, and 2) contribute nothing to the conversation, 3) aim to belittle and take away joy, and/or 4) try to one-up the OP, need to stop.

The next 4 or more years are going to be filled with an incredible amount of cruelty and hatred, so stop adding to that.

Someone posts about a sewing project, and theres guaranteed to be a reply "I dont like sewing" "sewing is too hard" Don't do that. you can simply scroll past, or reframe your response to something like, "wow that's impressive! do you have any tips for someone who struggles with sewing?"

if someone posts about a food you dont like, it's incredibly fucking rude to reply with "i dont like that" or "thats gross." Someone worked hard to make that dish, and they didn't even make it for you, so leave your opinion out of it. The same goes for talking down to someone that made a dish you deem really easy. It might not be for them, for a number of reasons. Give encouragement, even if it doesnt suit your taste or skill level.

Some people like to dance in the rain, and if you don't, then you aren't their target audience. If you're not willing to try it yourself, then move on.

Also, maybe just learn to find joy in other people's successes. We're going to need it.
