The accelerating #gerrymandering war in the U.S. raises moral issues for all who believe in fairness. But the infamous 2000 presidential vote count in #Florida showed us that WHEN you decide to stop, in that case the #SCOTUS halting ballot counting, determines who loses.
In 2024 the #efficiencygap gave #Democrats a 1.5 seat national advantage. SCOTUS decided to juice the gerrymandering war to give Republicans the advantage. Partisan balance at risk as Texas and California redraw House seats
Moves by Texas Republicans and California Democrats to redraw their U.S. House districts could disrupt a rare partisan balance in American politics. A new analysis by The Associated Press shows that the 220-215 Republican majority over Democrats in the House aligns closely with the national vote share. Although the overall outcome of last year's congressional elections was close to neutral, the analysis shows both parties benefited from advantages in the way districts were drawn in specific states. In California, Democrats won six more seats than expected last year. In Texas, Republicans gained nearly two extra seats. Now politicians in both states are trying to increase those advantages.

If you went to a magic show with the "open mind" of whether magic was real, you'd leave convinced that it was. Because the tricks are really convincing. The only way to keep a grip on reality in a magic show is to go in with a firm conviction that magic is not real. This is a rational approach, it is not a close minded attitude.
